I noticed the English language letter originated from the Australian branch. Was the same letter sent within the US?? With the same date? Just curious.

Using personal car for their "service"...car is getting worn out
by Sugar Shane inquestion: an individual (non-jw, let's say) loans a car to a jw family member, to drive for a year.
car is intended to be used for basic transportation needs.
the non-jw gets car back, only to find that it's basically been driven into the ground, racking up countless miles being used for d2d preaching, and shuttling other jws around.

Question: An individual (non-JW, let's say) loans a car to a JW family member, to drive for a year. Car is intended to be used for basic transportation needs. The non-JW gets car back, only to find that it's basically been driven into the ground, racking up countless miles being used for d2d preaching, and shuttling other JWs around. Besides the driver...or lendee, of the car, is there anyone else who should answer for this? Could it be that a JW, wanting to make a good impression & appear "spiritually strong," succumb to pressure from a zealous elder, to use their car d2d?
Again...I'm certain that I've read somewhere, in a leaked BOE letter, or maybe one of the many books, that the elders direct the preaching activities, in a pretty authoritarian manner. If anyone knows where to find such guidance, in print, please post, or PM me.
Thank you!

It's a slight improvement over previous letters, but still falls short of, "if you suspect something...call the cops."
Wasn't there a letter last year, about CALLING THE POLICE immediately if vandalism is found to have occured at a Kingdom Hall? Would be interesting to read that one again. Anyone have a link to it?

Kingdom Halls open to hurricane flood victims??
by Sugar Shane inthere are other threads dealing with jws actions, or non-actions in response to the houston flooding.
i started this thread to find out specifically if kingdom halls, or assembly halls are being used to help victims.
not just other jws, but innocent victims of all walks: men, women, children & pets.

Well, I just searched online for Kingdom Halls in the Houston area. It displayed no less than 12 locations in NORTH HOUSTON alone. Specifically, in the area north of Beltway 8, and south of the Woodlands area. That would likely be area of slightly higher elevation, and less rainfall accumulation.
I counted an additional 28 Halls in various other parts of the city, located south of the Beltway.
Note that the iphone maps feature counts all Jehovah's Witness structures, so presumably, some of these could actually be their larger assembly halls.
One should also not discount the many Halls in smaller cities and towns along interstates 45, and 10. Towns like Conroe, and Huntsville all have Kingdom Halls, according to the map...this areas would be well away from the worst flooding, and perfect for sheltering families/elderly, ect.
Bottom line is, they're blindly turning away from their own teaching to "imitate Jesus."
The worst is yet to come, folks. As with Katrina, we're about to witness a high body count. The numbers will add up as the waters recede, and the WT Society will have stood on the sidelines, doing absolutely NOTHING. Sad.

Strange Week for The Left
by freemindfade init's been a strange week, maybe the left sent out a memo this week that there losing their minds... three things i've noticed.... 1. mainstream media and politicians start bashing antifa a year into their bs, kind of odd, better late than never.
2. diane feinstein melts the brains of libs at a thing in sf when she expresses hope in trump, very odd, they probably ran her out of town with pitch forks and torches.. 3. trevor noah tells everyone to chill on ridiculing melania on what she wore to houston, beyond strange!
and also hypocritical, it's like telling everyone to think a certain way, to overreact to every little thing, then saying how dare you over react to something so insignificant.

Yes, correct...ANTIFA did choose to name themselves, in 1932. It originated with "Antifaschistische Aktion," in 1930s Germany. It again gained a foothold during the Cold War years. They've been around for awhile, and the "rift" between them, and fascist ideals has always been pretty stark, according to historians and scholars. I don't see what's "disingenuous" about it. Unless you're referring to individuals who jump on the ANTIFA bandwagon to further some ulterior motives. Yes, I could see that. It's certainly happenibg in the "alt-right" movement as well.

...here are some "rowdy" anti-fascists back in the 1930s, which I mentioned above. My, what a bunch of crazy left-wingers 😏:

I agree with everything you just said, for the most part. Free speech is so important...and the Nazis & "Commies" and anyone else have a right to state their positions. It bothers me to see the loose knit groups, such as anarchists, earth-firsters, and ANTIFA causing mayhem during events such as the G8 summit. It also bothers me to see groups of armed men march into town, out-gun the police, and chant NAZI slogans. Both sides ended up brawling with one another. One woman killed, and two police officers as well. It shouldn't have happened. And probably WOULDN'T have happened if the Gestapo wannabees hadn't marched into town with their silly tiki torches in the first place.
But yes....violence and the trampling of free speech is bad, no matter the group involved .You can compartmentalize that thought and stick it in a box.
But to equate the fascist protestors with anti-fascists, is not so simple. I agree with you that the lines can seem blurred, but their long term goals, and the overall end-game is entirely different. And that's what certain right-wing media pundits are attrmpting to do. Equate them, or make anti-fascists seem more of a threat than they really are. That's exactly what Hitler did through his propaganda arm in the mid to late 30s. Then, he had the Gestapo and Orpo police stamp out any remaining opposition from rogue anti-fascist citizens. Then came the Rohm purges where Hitler killed off his political opponents as he sought out absolute loyalty from his intel chiefs, generals, federal police, and other staff. Nasty time in history.
Speaking of fascists.

Yeah well, all true. But, we've seen this play out before, in some form or another: anti-fascists vs fascists. We know full well what a fascist regime is capable of, and should be thankful that anti-fascists took to violence to wipe them off the face of Europe...unless of course, you support fascists. Yes, Sean Hannity is really getting his viewers worked up over ANTIFA. And I agree, they do resort to some childish tantrum-like behavior. if you wanna bash them for that, fine...but you ought to reflect on history, and consider their overall goal: to wipe out fascism. And think about what's setting them off in the first place. Do they march into towns carrying assualt rifles, and chanting Nazi slogans, such as "Jews will not replace us?" No. Did they drive a car into a crowd in Charlottesville, VA? Nope...that was a young man obsessed by Nazism.
Oh, and here's a famous pic you might like. They didn't start the fight, but they sure as hell finished it. My money is on the anti-fascists:

The org tightens the noose on J.W.'s thinking.
by The Fall Guy inthe manipulative use of language by the org in the upcoming circuit assembly talks is as good - or better - than any advertising conglomerate could devise.
the mind-shaping wording is clearly used in order to deter critical thinking by the sheep.. face bad reports as jesus did (9 min.
note to the speaker: explain why spiritually mature people do not become ashamed of the good news or dismayed when faced with negative propaganda.

FACE BAD REPORTS AS JESUS DID (9 min.)
I read the PDF copy. Is this something that the R&F would normally have access to? Just wondering, because when I (a non-JW) showed a JW guy the copy of the "Sheperd Flock of God" book that I downloaded to my I-pad, from the ARC exhibits list, he pretty much freaked out. It was weird, but kind of amusing at the time. This was a couple years ago.
Just wondering if this "Face Bad Reports" document would illicit a similar reaction from an average JW 'publisher.'

That's a damned shame. Solid structures, with plenty of room & utilities, and potential volunteers. That would be a much better "witness" than some brainwashed zombie standing next to a cart. No offense to those in the Org, but that's just how I feel.
There are many verses in Bible about helping those in need. Here are 30 of them:
http://www.biblestudytools.com/topical-verses/bible-verses-about-helping-others/
Not to mention all the people helping out in H-town right now, from ALL walks of life. Atheists, Humanists, Christians, Muslims, Bhuddists, don't really give-a-shit-ists. Even DOGS and other animals exhibit altruism!! But, since the entire JW flock takes their marching orders STRAIGHT from the Bethel HQ, they won't step up and do the right thing, even though deep down they know they should.
Crap...I gotta get back to work now. I wish someone would CALL Bethel, and ask 'em which Kingdom Halls are helping victims in and around Houston. As a concerned citizen & non-JW, just call up (play dumb if necessary), and ask which ones are open, so you can spread the word to friends & neighbors. Call with the assumption that they are certainly doing SOMETHING....would go something like this:
caller: "I mean, you guys are helping out, right? I've seen your Kingdom Churches...er Halls, around various parts of town. The Methodist church is sorta full now, and so is the Y...so who can I contact down here?"
Bethel rep: "ummm...well....we, uh, don't really have any facilities at the moment, but we're monitoring the situation"
caller: "but people are suffering here!! What do you mean you're 'monitoring' things?!?...blankety...blank...insert expetive.
Would be AWESOME to record such an exchange and get on Youtube. Better yet, send it to CNN!!
Olsteen made the news for NOT opening his church in a timely mamner...I think the JWs should feel the heat too. Such a 'charitable organization.' 😏
